What is the aim of RE?
The Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus for RE explains that the principal aim of RE (religious education) is: to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.
Diversity in RE
We highly value RE at Uplands Community Primary School and believe the subject plays a crucial role in the curriculum we offer. RE lessons allow the children to explore and recognise the importance of other ways of life and other people's opinions and how they influence the world we live in. All staff aim to bring RE learning alive by creating memorable learning experiences, through the use of: handling real-life artefacts, having open conversations and going on purposeful trips to various places of worship.
Our RE Curriculum
We have mapped out our RE units across all the year groups and set out the key knowledge we want the children to retain. We have also set out how each unit links to previous and future learning.
